NBA: Protest delays start of Kings-Hawks

The Kings’ 105-90 win over the Hawks started after a 19-minute delay Thursday because of protesters who were locked arm-in-arm surroundin­g entrances to Golden1 Center in Sacramento, Calif.

A massive crowd shut down nearby freeways and gathered in the surroundin­g streets to protest the police shooting of Stephon Clark, who was shot while unarmed and in the backyard of his grandparen­ts’ house Sunday night. According to reports, Clark was shot 20 times.

In Charlotte, Kemba Walker scored 46 points and made 10 3-pointers as the Hornets rolled to the sixth most lopsided win in NBA history, beating the Grizzlies 140-79 in Charlotte. The Hornets easily overcame the absence of the suspended Dwight Howard.

NFL: Gore heading to hometown Dolphins

Frank Gore, the NFL’s active rushing leader, agreed to a one-year deal with the Dolphins, according to reports. Gore, who turns 35 next month, grew up in South Florida and played for the Miami Hurricanes.

NCAA: Purdue’s Haas likely out for Sweet 16

Purdue coach Matt Painter has all but ruled out Isaac Haas for the Sweet 16 after the star center fractured his right elbow in the Boilermake­r’s first-round NCAA Tournament win. But the senior is holding out hope that a new protective brace will give him a chance to play Friday against Texas Tech.

ETC.: Romo struggles in PGA Tour debut

Tony Romo fell apart on the back nine in his PGA Tour debut with a 5-over 77 in the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championsh­ip in the Domincan Republic.

The former Cowboys quarterbac­k shot even par on the front nine before three bogeys and a double bogey toward the end of his round. He was 14 shots behind leader Brice Garnett.

Auston Matthews had a goal in his return from a shoulder injury that sidelined him for 10 games and visiting Toronto beat Nashville, 5-2.

Former NHL forward and coach Eddie Olczyk said he is cancer-free after months of treatment. Olczyk, a member of the Rangers’ 1994 Stanley Cup champs, was diagnosed with colon cancer last summer.
