Mueller’s Runaway Train: Will His Probe Ever End?

-

I’m sick and tired of reading about special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigations into the president’s affairs (“Special ‘counsel,’ ” March 21).

It’s been more than 18 months, and Mueller keeps running into a brick wall. There’s no evidence of collusion. Now, Mueller is looking into President Trump’s family business — digging for anything to discredit Trump.

It’s time to let the president do his job without further obstacles. Anthony Napolitano Bellport

It seems to me that Mueller has defined a new mandate for himself.

It’s no longer an attempt to find evidence of collusion between Russian officials and the Trump campaign. Mueller has found no “smoking gun”; he hasn’t even found a holster.

His objective now is to keep the charade going until the November elections, dribbling out tidbits of info while the media write big headlines with no substance. William Fisher Suffern

Mueller and his cronies have decided to delve into Trump’s businesses, which have nothing to do with the Russian probe.

Mueller is abusing his mission. After many months and millions of taxpayers’ dollars, the best Mueller can do is indict a disgraced aide and foreigners who will never see a United States prison. Chris Tripoulas Manhattan

Mueller should have been fired a long time ago. His search for evidence of collusion has run dry, so his investigation is taking him to areas that have nothing to do with the election or Russian collusion. He’s a runaway-train with no conductor overseeing his actions.

Not only does Trump have the authority and the right to fire Mueller, he has a responsibility to the 63 million people who voted for him. Mueller poses a threat to the Trump presidency. J.J. Cravatto Ramsey, NJ

How long will this farce of an investigation go on before it finds something to connect Trump to Russian meddling?

At a meeting in 2012, not knowing his mic was hot, Obama turned to a Russian official and said, “After my election, I have more flexibility.” That’s what I consider collusion with the Russians. Bunny Abraham Manhattan

I’m a liberal activist, and I’m sure Trump is guilty of a great many things.

But I definitely think there should be a second special counsel to investigate the FBI. This is a long time coming.

I know that the Oakland Police Department has benefited from being subjected to investigation. This year’s murder rate is down because OPD is a better department, and it’s subject to feedback it cannot ignore. Sam Clune Berkeley, Calif.
