NBA: Curry returns, leaves Warriors’ win with knee injury Stephen Curry returned from a six-game absence with a right ankle injury only to strain his left knee after scoring 29 points, and the Warriors held off the Hawks 106-94 in Oakland, Calif. The Celtics said Kyrie Irving is set to have “minimally invasive” surgery Saturday to alleviate pain in his left knee. There is no timetable for his return.
MLB: Giants’ Bumgarner breaks bone in pitching hand Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner broke a bone in his pitching hand when hit by a line drive during a spring training game Friday in Scottsdale, Ariz. Twins third baseman Miguel Sano will not be suspended by Major League Baseball because of insufficient evidence after being accused of assault. Sano was accused of assault in December by a photographer who has covered the Twins.
NFL: Eagles DE faces arrest for injuring paraplegic worker Authorities in Houston issued a warrant for the arrest of Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett, who is accused of injuring a 66-year-old paraplegic woman as he tried get onto the field after Super Bowl LI at NRG Stadium. Bennett, 32, was indicted on a felony count of injury to the elderly. Quarterback Brock Osweiler signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins.
NHL: Hall, Devils ice Penguins in overtime Taylor Hall beat Matt Murray on a breakaway 27 seconds into overtime off an assist from Nico Hischier to lift the Devils to a 4-3 victory over the Penguins in Pittsburgh. Hischier had a goal and an assist, and Blake Coleman and Will Butcher also scored for the Devils.
GOLF: Reed’s monster putt sends Spieth packing at Dell Patrick Reed finished off Jordan Spieth and eliminated him with a 40-foot birdie putt from behind the 17th green to advance to the weekend of the Dell Technologies Match Play in Austin, Texas. Justin Thomas (No. 2) and Sergio Garcia (No. 7) were the only top-10 seeds to advance. In Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Tony Romo shot a 10-over 82 to finish last in his PGA Tour debut in the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship.
