Earful over elephant art
JIM Carrey has created a storm on social media by posting a cartoon he drew portraying Don Jr. and Eric Trump look-alikes as hunters being gored to death by an elephant while still grasping their guns. The actor posted a picture of the grisly artwork on Twitter and captioned it: #teamelephant. Some social-media users appreciated Carrey’s message, as the president’s sons are fond of big game hunting and have posted pictures of themselves with the carcases of animals, including elephants. But others were horrified by the gory image, with one claiming to have gone as far as filing a complaint with the FBI that the “Dumb and Dumber” star was threatening the lives of Trump’s sons. Carrey has become a prolific artist after scaling back his Hollywood career. Over the past couple of weeks, he has posted a series of lurid portraits mocking the Trump family, including one of President Trump having sex with a lookalike of porn star Stormy Daniels titled “Fifty Shades of Decay” and another of Trump called “The Wicked Witch of the West Wing and Putin’s Flying Monkeys.” Carrey’s most recent artwork features a shirtless Trump eating ice cream. He’s also attacked press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders with a picture captioned that her “only purpose in life is to lie for the wicked.” Of the Trump sons, Twitter user @hannahkanavel wrote, “People are going to make this about them and it’s not. It’s about the hunted being the hunter. A role reversed.” But @BrentBozell wrote: “@JimCarrey is an unhinged Hollywood leftist who is perpetuating the idea that violence against conservatives is acceptable. These ‘drawings’ are disturbing. He might want to get his head checked out.” And @ejudep tweeted, “Jim has threatened the life of the President’s sons. I had to notify the authorities,” along with a screenshot of an FBI site. When approached by Page Six, Don Jr. and Eric Trump declined to comment. Carrey has also created portraits of other controversial figures including NRA leader Wayne LaPierre (as a demon from hell) and Mark Zuckerberg (with a thumbs down).
