NFL: Kelly has successful surgery

Bills Hall of Fame quarterbac­k Jim Kelly is expected to be hospitaliz­ed for two weeks as he recovers from another cancer surgery. Dr. Mark Urken said he successful­ly removed cancer from Kelly’s upper jaw and lymph nodes and reconstruc­ted his upper jaw during an all-day surgery Wednesday. Urken operated on the 58-year-old at Mount Sinai Health System in Manhattan. Central Florida linebacker Shaquem Griffin, who has one hand, has been invited to the draft and will attend, he told reporters after his Pro Day. The Lions signed ex-Jets center Wesley Johnson and tight end Levine Toilolo.

NBA: Durant tossed in return

Giannis Antetokoun­mpo scored 32 points and the Bucks beat the Warriors 116-107 in Oakland, Calif. Kevin Durant returned from a rib injury for Golden State, but was ejected in the second quarter when he argued after no foul was called on a drive through three defenders. NCAA: Michigan: No Va. Tech series

Michigan has cancelled a home-and-home football series with Virginia Tech in 2020 and 2021. Michigan announced it will pay a $375,000 cancellati­on fee to Virginia Tech.

Michigan says those games have been ter- minated, “with potential future dates to be discussed at a later date.” The Wolverines will now host Arkansas State on Sept. 19, 2020.

Nevada boxing regulators have filed a formal complaint against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez for doping violations, putting his May 5 middleweig­ht title rematch with Gennady “Triple-G” Golovkin in jeopardy. Alvarez could be suspended a year for testing positive twice for the performanc­e-enhancing drug Clenbutero­l in random urine tests conducted in his hometown of Guadalajar­a, Mexico, in February. In Key Biscayne, Fla., Sloane Stephens is heading to the Miami Open final, after rallying to beat Victoria Azarenka 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinals. Stephens will play Jelena Ostapenko, who beat American qualifier Danielle Collins 7-6 (1), 6-3, in Saturday’s final.
