METS NOTES

-

Rosario singled in the second inning and was on base for Yoenis Cespedes to deliver a two-run single. In the fifth, following Noah Syndergaard’s sacrifice bunt, Rosario stroked a two-run single.

“I think my approach is better than last year,” said Rosario, whose plate discipline was an issue during his 2017 rookie season. “I tried to make a different plan and try not to swing at the same pitches that I did before.”

Michael Conforto could be at Citi Field within a week.

The Mets outfielder is continuing his rehab at extended spring training in Port St. Lucie, Fla., but general manager Sandy

Alderson indicated Thursday team brass will decide within a few days on Conforto’s next step.

With extended spring training set to conclude Sunday, the possible next steps for Conforto are returning to the Mets or beginning a minor league rehab assignment.

But since the minor league season does not begin until April 5, there is a small window of potential inactivity for Conforto. If he rejoined the Mets, he would be eligible for removal from the disabled list Wednesday.

The Mets improved to 37-20 on Opening Day (.649) for the best winning percentage in openers in major league history. In their past 25 Opening Days at home, the Mets are 22-3.
