‘Pruitt panic’: Aides break in

-

Security agents for EPA chief Scott Pruitt panicked when they couldn’t reach their boss last year, so they called 911 and broke down the door to his Washington, DC, apartment, it was reported Friday.

A fire engine and ambulance raced to the scene as the agents got to work on the door.

But Pruitt was fine, though groggy from a nap, according to ABC News.

The EPA later reimbursed the landlord, Vicki Hart, for the cost of the door.

The embarrassing March 29, 2017, incident was disclosed soon after Bloomberg News reported Pruitt paid just $50 a night to crash in the apartment, which was co-owned by Hart, the wife of a lobbyist with clients regulated by her husband.

Pruitt paid to rent a room in the two-bedroom condo only on nights when he actually slept there.

White House officials are freaking about Pruitt’s liv- ing arrangement as well as his foot-dragging before handing over documents about his lease or payments, the news service reported, citing three sources.

In all, Pruitt paid $6,100 to use the room for roughly six months.

Hart’s husband, J. Steven Hart, is a lobbyist and his firm represents clients from EPA-regulated industries.

Pruitt is already under fire for traveling first class on government flights.
