Three residents of an illegal attic apartment in Queens were saved in an “amazing rescue” by firefighters who pulled them through a window as smoke and flames closed in on them, officials said.

“They would all have been dead,” FDNY Battalion Chief Robert Bohack Jr. said at the scene.

Firefighters were called to 101-51 107th St. in Richmond Hill at around 7:45 a.m. after a blaze started on the second floor of what’s supposed to be a two-family home.

The first responders quickly realized residents were being illegally housed in the attic and would need to be rescued, an FDNY spokesman said.

The Bravest battled the flames from inside, by traveling up the interior stairs, and from the rear of the home, where they used a 35-foot ladder to access the attic through a small window.

Rescuers pulled three people from the smoke-and carbon-monoxide-laden attic.

“We removed [the victims] from the attic through this little window . . . less than 2 feet by 2 feet,” Bohack said. “It was an amazing rescue.”

In addition to the trio removed from the top floor, two others were evacuated from inside the building.

All five victims, including a child, were taken to Jamaica Medical Center and were expected to survive.

A firefighter also sustained minor injuries, according to officials.

City inspectors determined the two-family home had been illegally converted into a five-family residence, a Department of Buildings spokesman said. The agency issued a vacate order.
