Dellin not rattled after shaky outing

- By GEORGE A. KING III

DETROIT — Dellin Betances gave up three runs and five hits in two-thirds of an inning Friday night and turned what should have been an easy victory into a sweat job.

Yet, standing in the middle of the Yankees’ clubhouse after an 8-6 win over the Tigers at Comerica Park, Betances wasn’t rattled. In fact, he was confident things are about to change for him.

“It’s tough right now because it’s the best I have felt in a while. Both pitches are good. The first guy got it good, but after that I could have thrown the resin bag up there and it would have gotten hit,’’ Betances said. “It’s one of those days. I have to stay positive because I haven’t felt like this in a while.’’

Jeimer Candelario greeted Betances with a homer to start the eighth and by the time Chad Green took over for Betances the Tigers had scored three runs and had two runners on with two outs. Green caught Dixon Machado looking for the third out.

“Look at the positives, Green picked me up and the team won,’’ Betances said.

The Yankees are the first team in MLB history to have five different players have multi-homer games in the opening 14 tilts of a season. They are Giancarlo Stanton, Tyler Austin, Didi Gregorius, Gary Sanchez and Aaron Hicks.

Aaron Judge nudged his hitting streak to 11 games with an RBI single in the fifth inning. In those 11 games, Judge is batting .390 (16-for-41).

Judge seemed to overrun a foul ball hit by Miguel Cabrera down the right field line. The ball glanced off Judge’s body and to the ground. TV cameras caught Judge grinning while returning to his right field position.

After getting center fielder Hicks back from the disabled list on Thursday, the Yankees’ plan is for CC Sabathia to return to the active roster on Tuesday.

“I think Tuesday,’’ said Sabathia, who has been on the shelf since April 7 with a right hip issue he didn’t believed warranted a stint on the 10-day DL. “Bullpen [session Saturday] and come off.’’
