Report: Gronk won’t show for workouts
The biggest question of the Patriots’ offseason won’t be answered once the team’s programs start up.
Rob Gronkowski will not be in attendance for the voluntary offseason workouts that begin Monday, ESPN reported Sunday, as the star tight end who couldn’t commit to returning next season still has not confirmed his plans.
ESPN reported the 28-year-old is undecided on playing this season and has had “good communication” with the team.
There have been clouds around Gronkowski since his stunning Su- per Bowl postgame interview, in which he said he would “see where I’m at” before deciding whether to play another season. He played in the Super Bowl just after being cleared from the concussion protocol, and reports have indicated since he has had a troubling relationship with coach Bill Belichick.
The Boston Herald recently reported Belichick chewed out Gronkowski last season for being a client of Alex Guerrero’s, Tom Brady’s controversial trainer.
Brady also will not be at the start of the team’s workout program, as he will be in Qatar for an event for his charity.
Eagles CB arrested, cut
The Eagles released cornerback Daryl Worley, hours after he was arrested.
NFL Network reported Worley was arrested Sunday morning near the team’s practice facility and that police used a Taser on him after he became combative. The report also said a gun was found in Worley’s vehicle.
The team first issued a statement that it was investigating Worley’s arrest and later announced he was cut.
The Super Bowl champions traded wide receiver Torrey Smith to the Panthers for Worley in March.
Legal trouble will keep 49ers LB out
Niners linebacker Reuben Foster won’t participate in the offseason program while he tends to legal matters related to his domestic violence charges.
The 49ers said Foster’s future with the team will be “determined by the information revealed during the legal process.” San Francisco begins its offseason program Monday.
