Blatt also likely to interview

- By MARC BERMAN

As expected, the Knicks are trying to finalize a meeting with David Blatt, the former Cavaliers coach who interviewed with Phil Jackson in 2016. According to ESPN, Blatt is out of the country and may not be able to interview until next week.

Blatt just won the Euro Cup with Darussafaka Istanbul and the onetime Israeli League coach is former Princeton teammates of Knicks president Steve Mills and developmental director Craig Robinson, who has emerged as a strong voice in the Knicks hierarchy. Blatt has no connection to general manager Scott Perry, however, which is the downside of his long-reported candidacy.

Despite getting to an NBA Finals and compiling a 83-40 record, Blatt had a strange stint in his two seasons in Cleveland because of a deteriorating relationship with LeBron James.

“I have an endgame and that endgame is that I would really like to go back to the NBA,” Blatt told the Jerusalem Post last summer. “There were no changes in the NBA this year from a coaching standpoint and my real goal is to next year try to get back into the league as a head coach.”

The Knicks also plan to interview David Fizdale, Jerry Stack- house, Mark Jackson and possibly Jeff Van Gundy. Though the Knicks had a conversation with Van Gundy’s rep, it’s unclear who made the first move.

Van Gundy is a long-shot candidate but the people’s choice despite being away from the NBA sidelines 11 years. Van Gundy also may not agree with the philosophy of the Knicks’ new front office which wants a major role in the daily workings of the team.

“Maybe there’s a guy who’s been around the league for a long time who generally learned over time to be more open to things that they weren’t open to in the past,’’ Perry said Thursday.
