All dogs in heaven as park is brought to heel

- Cedar Attanasio and Linda Massarella

It was a love-in for pooches at a Tribeca pup park Sunday, two days after it was reopened to the public after being hijacked by residents for 10 years.

An owner of a golden retriever who said he paid annual dues of $120 to the Dog Owners of Tribeca to illicitly keep the Warren Street Dog Park private said it hasn’t made much of a dif- ference now that the city found out about the private scheme and cut the locks, as The Post reported Sunday.

“It’s [now] open to the public,” said the dog owner, who wanted to remain anonymous.

“The more friendly dogs to play with, the better.”

As his purebred frolicked, it was joined by two dogs owned by Pace University student Lily Craelius, 18, who said she was just happening by Sunday when she noticed the area looked “cleaner” than the North End Dog Run, a park she uses about two blocks away.

The owner of the golden retriever said he joined the association in 2008 out of fear that if he didn’t, the park would become a “rotting crap hole.” The city on Friday removed locks illegally installed by the association — and the park remains in fine shape.

“My understanding is the Parks Department will take care of it now,” the former member said. “It’s great.”

On the other hand, he was miffed someone hadn’t scooped up their dog’s poop nearby.
