Judd sues Harvey for sabotage
ASHLEY Judd has filed a lawsuit against Harvey Weinnstein saying he sabotaged her career after she refused his sexual advances. Judd said the disgraced movie mogul hadad stopped her from getting work because she rebuffed him. “I lost career opportunity. I lost money. I lost status and prestigege and power in my career as a direct result of having been sexu-xually harassed and rebuffing the sexual harassment,” Judd toldold ABC News. “My career opportunities, after having been de-defamed by Harvey Weinstein, were significantly diminished,”d,” she added. “My career was damaged because I rebuffed Mr. Weinstein’s sexual advances. I know it for a fact.” Judd fileded the lawsuit Monday in LA Superior Court, saying he had costost her a major role in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy. The actressess had been in talks with director Peter Jackson in 1998, butut Weinstein “torpedoed” the opportunity by telling him shehe “was a ‘nightmare’ to work with.” The lawsuit states: “The pa-pathetic reality . . . was that Weinstein was retaliating againstnst Ms. Judd for rejecting his sexual demands approximately onene year earlier, when he cornered her in a hotel room under thehe guise of discussing business . . . Weinstein used his power in the entertainment industry to damage Ms. Judd’s reputation and limit her ability to find work.” She is suing for defamation, sexual harassment, unfair competition and interference with prospective economic advantage.
