Give this man a Peace Nobel: SoKo president

-

South Korea’s leader said Monday that President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to get North Korea to end its nuclear-weapons program and bring peace to the peninsula.

“President Trump should win the Nobel Peace Prize. What we need is only peace,” an official in Seoul quoted President Moon Jae-in as saying on Monday.

Moon’s remark came after South Korean officials relayed that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un told them he would be willing to give up his nuclear-weapons program if the US vowed not to invade his country.

Kim made the comments during a meeting with Moon on Friday as the Korean leaders pledged to end hostilities and work toward “complete denuclearization.”

Trump is expected to meet Kim in May or early June at a to-be-determined location.

On Monday, Trump suggested that he and Kim meet at the Peace House, the Korean-border location where Kim and Moon convened Friday.

“There is something that I like about it because you are there, you are actually there,” Trump added of the potential meeting place at a White House news conference later monday. “If things work out, there is a great celebration to be had on the site, not on a third-party country.”

Moon’s comment about Trump came in response to a message from Lee Hee-ho, the widow of former South Korean President Kim Daejung, that said Moon deserved to win the award for his efforts to get Kim Jong-un to sit down and talk peace.

Dae-jung, who died in 2009, won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2000 for his “sunshine policy” that led a sit-down with former North Korean President Kim Jong-il.Mark Moore
