Final edition for Warhol’s Interview
Interview magazine, the culture and arts publication founded by Andy Warhol in 1969, has folded.
Owned by billionaire Peter Brant, the periodical — which lately has been mired in legal spats with former employees, as well as a dispute with its former landlord — has filed for a Chapter 7 liquidation and closed shop on Monday, a senior employee told The Post. Calls to Interview went unanswered. The bad news was delivered to staff members in an “all-hands meeting” on Monday morning, one source at the meeting said.
“After 10 months at my dream job at @InterviewMag, today is sadly my last day as the magazine has closed,” tweeted Trey Taylor, a senior online editor.
“interview magazine has folded ... media rocks!!” Ezra Marcus, an editor at the now-shuttered magazine, shouted on Twitter.
In February, the art and culture-focused publication was kicked out of its swanky Soho offices because the land- lords weren’t getting their checks from Brant, Page Six reported.
Interview’s closing marks the end of an era. The magazine’s covers had become cultural talking pieces, depicting the likes of David Bowie, Madonna, Elizabeth Taylor, Cher, Diana Ross and Michael Jackson.
Interview’s financial woes have steadily worsened amid consolidation in the magazine industry, with rumors cropping up regularly that it was on the verge of closing — or up for sale.
