School’s Hamas Moment: A Beacon of Ignorance

-

The moment of silence recently observed at Beacon School for alleged “Gaza victims” only confirms the school’s poor ethics and grasp of facts (“Moment of silence — for Hamas,” May 20).

Even a leader of Hamas, one of the world’s most murderous terror organizations, admitted that the great majority of those killed were members of the organization.

Beacon’s recent “moment of silence” might not seem so outrageous and inappropriate if we ever heard about moments of silence at Beacon for the thousands of innocent Israelis who have been murdered by Islamic terrorism.

It sounds like the Beacon School is badly in need of new and betterinformed leadership. John Jaffe Orefeild, Pa.

The Hamas Charter calls for the murder of every Jew in the world.

Hamas leadership has proudly acknowledged that at least 50 of the “peaceful demonstrators” killed were Hamas soldiers alongside whose bodies were found hand grenades, and Molotov cocktails.

Is Beacon School Principal Ruth Lacey also going to hold prayer vigils for Nazis like Josef Mengele and Adolf Eichmann? Richard Sherman Margate, Fla.

A few facts for our anti-Israel “educators”: This “protest” was organized by Hamas with the sole purpose of having Palestinians killed for propaganda. They burned tires. They brought guns, explosives and machetes to the border. They sent burning kites into Israel, starting many fires. These were not “peaceful” protests.

Hamas posted maps of nearby Israeli communities, so the terrorists would be able to possibly kill Jews.

There is no country on earth that would permit a terrorist group to infiltrate its border. Israel was defending its citizens from Hamas terrorists. Hopefully, the students at Beacon HS are given some facts instead of liberal propaganda. Jamie Mitrani Congers

The Beacon School’s moment of silence was hardly a tribute.

Showing respect for the dead has been done for generations, even in the Middle East. Peter J. Peirano Ridgewood
