Nets’ G-League coach jumps to Hornets staff

The Nets were poached of one of their brighter young minds and could be on the verge of losing a second.

Ronald Nored left his post as head coach of the G-League Long Island Nets to become an assistant with the Hornets, a move f irst reported by ESPN and confirmed by The Post.

Meanwhile, Nets assistant general manager Trajan Langdon has interviewed in Detroit for a general manager-type role, and may join the Pistons. A source said there was no update on Langdon.

Joining James Borrego’s staff in Charlotte continues a string of breakthroughs this offseason for Nored. In his second season at the helm of the Nets’ G-League squad, the 28-year-old coached Long Island to a 27-23 record, a 10-win improvement over his debut campaign.

Nored’s work developing Isaiah Whitehead and twoway player Milton Doyle led to him being named an assistant for the USA’s World Cup Qualifying team this summer, working with exKnicks coach Jeff Van Gundy on the U.S. team that will play in the FIBA World Cup Qualifying Games.

“For me this is a dream come true,” Nored had said of the USA post. “Not only to represent my country, but also to work under such an esteemed coach. I know I’ll be challenged and I’ll learn a lot, and I’m really looking forward to it.”

The Nets recently hired ex-Knick Pablo Prigioni to be an assistant on Kenny Atkinson’s staff, and the Argentine’s long career as a heady floor general means it’s likely he’ll give guidance to young point guards D’Angelo Russell, Caris LeVert and Spencer Dinwiddie.

Meanwhile, the Nets have to also be bracing to possibly lose Langdon.

After Ed Stefanski, a former Nets assistant general manager from 2004-07, was hired in Detroit as a senior adviser who is tasked with revamping the Pistons, the 42-year-old Langdon has emerged as the leading candidate for GM.

It remains to be seen what kind of compensation the Nets would receive if Langdon leaves for the Pistons.
