Two gunmen tried to turn Chicago rapper Chief Keef into the next Tupac Shakur in front of a Midtown hotel early Saturday — but totally missed the mark, police sources said.

Instead of striking Keef (right), a single bullet hit the side of the W Hotel on Broadway near West 47th Street, the sources said.

The two men fled and were being sought late Saturday.

Meanwhile, Keef, 22, whose given name is Keith Farrelle Cozart, rushed back to his home in LA.

He told The Post that he has been feuding with Bushwick, Brooklyn-born rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose given name is Daniel Hernandez.

“It’s just beef between me and the rapper 6ix9ine,” he claimed. “Yeah, I’m good. Everything is fine.”

The two have been sparring online since Keef was featured on a Trippie Redd song, “I Kill People,” that threatened 6ix9ine.

6ix9ine retaliated with a since-deleted Instagram post questioning Keef’s street cred.

Keef said he was confronted by the two gunmen before dawn Saturday as he went upstairs to his room at the W.

“I was just scared a little bit, and I didn’t know what to do,” he said.

“I went upstairs for a couple hours to cool off, and I came back [outside]. I didn’t know they were waiting for me.”

Both men had guns, but only one fired a shot, Keef said.

Asked if he planned to return to New York, he said, “Probably a little later.” But, he added, “not now.” A police source confirmed that a beef with a Brooklyn rapper may have been behind the violence. 6ix9ine could not immediately be reached.
