Snacks wants bite of Barkley

Saquon Barkley’s welcome-to-the-NFL moment may come before he goes up against another team.

Though many of his coaches and teammates have expressed how impressed they’ve been with the rookie’s power, speed, versatility and maturity, All-Pro defensive tackle Damon Harrison is most interested in learning about the toughness of the No. 2-overall pick.

“The guy can play, man … [but] I’m excited to get out there in training camp so I can hit his ass and see what’s he made of,” Harrison said Tuesday.

Harrison quickly was reminded that the coaching staff and front office likely wouldn’t be thrilled with the 350-pound lineman leveling the prized rookie.

“You get in between the lines, you get the ball in your hands, I don’t give a damn what anybody says. It’s time to work,” Harrison said. “I don’t think we’ll be able to hit him too hard, but I’m gonna hit his ass.”

Harrison is even more eager to see new middle linebacker Alec Ogletree in live action. The 2013 first-round pick played five seasons with the Rams before being traded to the Giants in March.

“He comes downhill, man, and that’s something you can appreciate as a nose tackle and a defensive tackle,” Harrison said. “That means those centers and those guards have got to make decisions really fast.”

Eli Manning was asked for a reaction to last month’s settlement of his memorabilia fraud lawsuit. “Just glad it’s over,” Manning said. Landon Collins (forearm) didn’t participate in team drills, along with Odell Beckham Jr., but took individual reps and has been cleared to practice.
