What a cuckoo NoKo thing to say!

- Yaron Steinbuch

President Trump said Friday that he wants “my people” to “sit up at attention” when they see him — just like North Koreans do for Kim Jong-un.

“He’s the head of the country,” Trump said of the murderous dictator during a live interview on “Fox & Friends.”

“And I mean he’s the strong head. Don’t let anyone think anything different. He speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same.”

Later Friday, the president said he was only joking.

“I was kidding,” he said. “You don’t understand sarcasm,” he told reporters.

Trump has lavished praise on Kim ever since he wrapped up his summit with the brutal despot on Tuesday, calling him “funny,” “smart,” “very talented” and someone who “loves his people.”

Watchdog groups and the US government have slammed Kim for leading a regime rife with human-rights violations, including executions, starvation and mass incarcerations in brutal prison camps.

Asked how he could mourn for American hostage Otto Warmbier — who died in the US after being returned from Pyong- yang in a coma — but not attack Kim’s human-rights record, Trump said he wanted to maintain a good rapport with Kim.

“You know why? Because I don’t want to see a nuclear weapon destroy you or your family,” he told a reporter.

Trump warned that millions of lives are at risk if there isn’t a truce.

“I don’t mean like, you know, people are saying 100,000. Seoul has 28 million people 30 miles off the [North Korean] border. You would have had 30, 40, 50 million people killed. Who knows what would have happened?” he said.
