De Niro’s Deplorable F-Bomb

THE ISSUE: President Trump’s response to Robert De Niro saying “F - - k Trump” at the Tonys last Sunday.

-

President Trump was correct when he said that Robert De Niro is a very low-IQ individual after the actor dropped two Fbombs about Trump at the Tony Awards (“Don: De Niro a dimbo,” June 13).

I believe that De Niro is also a very low-class individual for making those remarks. De Niro is just another of the Hollywood elites who has Trump Derangement Syndrome. Geraldine Voelkel The Bronx

I was appalled and devastated that De Niro ruined the Tony Awards, which started out as a beautiful show.

There were young teenagers and children present, and De Niro showed no class with his filthy language.

Trump is trying to make things better for us, and the constant, ugly day-to-day beatdown is disgraceful. Kate Phelan Boca Raton, Fla.

De Niro is helping Trump win. I’m not sure if it was the hubris of a legendary film star or the isolation of someone who runs in an elite social circle that caused him to ig- nore the direct correlation between publicly degrading someone and bolstering their support.

De Niro could have used his time onstage to spread hope and kindness in the wake of the stunning display of depression that has overtaken our country.

Instead he just enraged Trump’s supporters, energized his detractors and caused the rest of us to just shake our heads at the state of our union. Jennifer Reilly Oceanside
