Twenty-two people were wounded when two feuding gunmen opened fire at an all-night arts festival early Sunday in New Jersey — and the mayhem ended only when police fatally shot one of the suspects, cops said.

Hundreds of revelers were packed in and around the historic Roebling Wire Works building in Trenton for the Art All Night show when the two men started exchanging fire around 2:45 a.m., authorities said.

The shots sent attendees stampeding toward the building’s side door, according to one festivalgoer who escaped unscathed.

“I heard the gunshots at the end of the building,” said the 44-year-old man, who declined to give his name.

“There were hundreds of people [inside],” the man added. “That door, that’s where all the chaos happened. Like a bottleneck.”

All told, 17 people were injured by gunfire. Another five suffered scrapes and bruises in the panic.

Four of the gunshot victims — including a 13-yearold boy — were hospitalized in critical condition, according to officials.

Toward the front of the building, cops opened fire on one of the gunmen, said witness Edward Forchion.

“I ducked around a corner for cover, [and] as the cops approached, they started shooting,” said Forchion, 54.

“[The man shot by police] was flopping around on the floor like a dog. He was trying to get up. A cop ran over saying, ‘Stay on the ground!’ ”

The surviving shooter was taken into custody, with charges against him pending, according to police.

Neither man was immediately identified by name.

The shooting was sparked by a “neighborhood beef,” according to Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri.

The remainder of the two-day festival was canceled.
