He sure is Fonda dogs

- Cindy Adams

PETER Fonda. In armpit-to-armpit black leather. Like we’d expect filmdom’s quintessential bad boy in taupe chiffon? He’s in “Boundaries,” a Sony Pictures Classic dog movie — not meaning it’s lousy . . . meaning it’s about dogs.

Peter: “Would you believe in this Christopher

Plummer, the world’s finest Shakespearean actor alive, plays a guy who sells pot to me . . . to ‘Easy Rider’!?

“I play his friend — there’d been unsuccessful things done in our old days — so he comes to me and brings pot. Listen, life changes. A kid 9 wants two digits, to be 10, kid 10 wants to be an een — 13, me I’m 78. All I want is to cash the checks.

“I love being here. Last time was ’97, when I was promoting ‘Ulee’s Gold.’ I’m born here. You can take the boy out of New York — but you can never take New York out of the boy.”

Peter said nothing about the f ilm — so on to Christopher’s: “Lots of bums in this. One must be versatile in business so why not sell pot? So I play an old dope peddler trying to get back with his family.

“I love these great characters, like I even want to do one of those ‘Game of Thrones’ episodes. They’re quite good. Besides watching that show, what do I do? Have fun, read, go to parties, see friends that are still alive.” Christopher said nothing about the film, so I spied guest Beth Stern, who said: “Howard and I have 30 kittens and an adopted German shepherd from Pittsburgh named Shadow.” Finally its director/ writer Shana Feste, stroking terrier mix Loretta on her lap: “My dog. I take her everywhere. Rescuing animals is in my genes. My father did, and I do. Once you bottle-feed one, it’s an addiction.” Right. OK. Let me tell you that this delicious film circles around a Seattle home overwhelmed by an adoption of stray dogs and cats and opens the 22nd.
