Big chef keeps adding flavor

Top chef Laurent Tourondel is expanding his presence near Penn Station — creating a dining oasis in a desert of notoriousl­y bad food.

Tourondel’s L’Amico, which serves casual, rustic Italian fare — from wood-fired pizzas to tasty pastas and grilled fish —at 849 Avenue of the Americas, adjacent to the Eventi Hotel, is killing it brilliantl­y.

So is The Vine, Tourondel’s fun hotel lobby bar, which shares a kitchen with L’Amico but comes with its own address at 851 Avenue of the Americas.

Now Tourondel — who founded the BLT brand, as in BLT Steak, BLT Fish, BLT Prime, and more — is planning on opening his own steakhouse next door to L’Amico, Side Dish has learned.

Tourondel declined to comment. However, we hear the new restaurant is slated to open this fall.

Taco Electrico, a new taqueria from the Gerber Group — of Mr. Purple, The Campbell, Irvington, Kingside, and Whiskey Blue — is opening later this month in Union Square.

The aesthetic is downtown Tulum, Mexico, mixed with Manhattan, neon and LED light pieces, porch swings and locally sourced shared plates from Chef Fernando Navas — along with plenty of tequilas, mezcals, margarita offerings and local beers.

The 1,600-square-foot space, at 201 Park Avenue South at 17th Street, seats 155 people.

Hot spot Kings Co Imperial in Williamsbu­rg is crossing the bridge to open a Lower East Side outpost at 168¹/2 Delancey St.

The 56-seat restaurant will feature late-night dining and a takeout window for grab-and-go dumplings from co-owner and executive chef Josh Grinker and co-owner and creative director Tracy Jane Young.

Cocktails will be from Justin Lane Briggs.

WE HEAR...That a root beer-flavored Canadian whiskey, Root One, from Dozortsev & Sons, created by co-owner Arty Dozortsev, has become a fave for celebs like country star Blake Shelton and actor Ryan Reynolds and is now being served at TAO Group restaurant­s and Claudio’s in Greenport.
