Plus-size swimwear is breaking out of its frump slump with fresh, sexy styles
IT’S about time!
The fashion industry’s slow-but-steady push for body inclusivity has finally hit the swimwear category — and not a moment too soon for curvier customers.
Between this June and last, Google searches for “plus-size swimwear” skyrocketed by 43 percent, according to the tech company. And there’s plenty of supply to meet that demand, with everyone from Cynthia Rowley to H&M offering larger options. Meanwhile, some savvy plus-size models, including Ashley Graham and Hunter McGrady, have started their own splashy collections.
“Every woman should have the opportunity to feel sexy and confident, whether in an itty-bitty bikini, high-cut one-piece or tankini,” McGrady, whose collaboration with Playful Promises runs US sizes 14 to 20, tells The Post. “[Wear] whatever makes you feel proud to embrace the body you have.”
