Catcher Kurt Suzuki left the Braves 4-2 win over the Padres after he was hit on his helmet by Raffy Lopez’s bat as he struck out with a big follow-through to end the second inning.

Suzuki was knocked to the ground, but was able to walk off the field.

The Braves said Suzuki was removed as a precaution and his status is day to day.

Cubs’ Baez exits early

Cubs shortstop Javier Baez left Sunday’s game against the Cardinals after being hit in the left elbow by a pitch from St. Louis starter Jack Flaherty in the top of the third inning. The initial diagnosis was a contusion.

Carrasco lands on DL

Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco will undergo additional tests on his bruised right elbow after he was placed on the 10-day disabled list Sunday.

Carrasco was struck by a line drive in the second inning of Saturday’s 9-3 loss to the Twins.

The 31-year-old Carrasco, who is 8-5 with a 4.24 ERA in 15 starts, will have imaging procedures Monday to determine if he sustained more serious damage, including whether he has a fracture.

K.C. makes roster moves

Adalberto Mondesi is back with the Royals as part of a roster shuffle. Mondesi was recalled from Triple-A Omaha.

The Royals also called up outfielder Rosell Herrera and purchased the contract of right-hander Wily Per

alta from Omaha. They optioned righthande­r Scott Barlow and infielder Ramon Torres to their Pacific Coast League affiliate.

Good news for Chisox

White Sox right-hander

Miguel Gonzalez (rotator cuff inflammati­on) reported no problems following a 25-pitch session. The plan is for him to throw another session — 25 pitches or more — during the three-game series at Cleveland.

O’s Cashner set for return

Righty Andrew Cashner (back) did not have any setbacks with his bullpen session and will start Wednesday in Washington.
