Who needs a cheat sheet when you’ve got a smart device?
State education officials are investigating claims that a Mount Vernon HS student posted pictures of his Regents geometry test to Facebook as he took the exam on Tuesday morning and pleaded for help with the answers.
Chris Vazquez, a former teacher at alerted the school, officials immediately after noticing several pictures of the test brazenly splashed across the student’s page while the exam was in progress.
“Help,” the teenager implored on the suspect posts.
“Once the geometry Regents began showing up on my Facebook feed during the testing times, I knew ththis was serious,” Vazquez told The Post.
He said students are supposed to turn in their phones before sitting for the exams and that proctors are meant to double-check for any hidden devices.
The whistleblower said he was stunned that a student could take multiple shots of the test in what is supposed to be a tightly monitored setting.
“How the hell did the student get the camera inside the class and take pictures while two teachers are proctoring that exam?” Vazquez asked.
He said that he relayed the posts to state officials while the test was in progress and that they asked him to forward pictures from the Facebook account.
The student’s page was deleted soon after, Vazquez said.
He added that it was “horrible that he had the time to post more than 10 pages online on Facebook during testing time.”
State officials said they can’t comment directly on individual cases of student misconduct.
An NYSED spokesman said proctors are required to announce the device ban before all Regents exams.
A staffer in the state’s testing department on Tuesday told Vazquez it’s investigating the incident.
