A longtime Long Island highschool teacher persuaded two students to send him racy photos — and tried to have sex with one of them by tempting her with an iPhone X, police said Friday.

Jairo Inswasty, a math teacher at Central Islip HS, preyed on the two 16-year-old girls from January to May of this year, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Geraldine Hart alleged.

The 70-year-old teacher arranged to pay one of the teens to clean his home in Islandia once a week from January to March. All the while, he asked if he could take photos of her posed in “inappropriate matters,” Hart said.

She agreed to pose nude once for pictures, and he handed over $150 cash, according to Hart.

He allegedly then propositioned the student for sex, telling her he would give her an iPhone X in exchange, but she refused.

Meanwhile, Inswasty allegedly begged a second student for photos of herself in exchange for cash.

She sent over one photo of herself in a bikini, which he paid $5 for after showing her $2,000 in cash, according to police

“He handed her $2,000, had her count it and then paid her $5 for the picture,” Hart said at a press conference. “He stated that the next time, there would be more.”

The student declined to send him any more photos or videos.

Both teens knew each other and were students of Inswasty, who has taught at the school since 1996, police said.

The girl who cleaned his home ratted him out to another math teacher, while the other girl told a friend, who then reported it to a guidance counselor. The school employees alerted police.

Inswasty was arrested Thursday by detectives from the police department’s Special Victims Section.

He was suspended with pay last month pending the outcome of the case, Central Islip School District Superintendent Howard Koenig told Newsday.

Inswasty is charged with two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child and is free after being issued a desk appearance ticket.

Hart left open the possibility of more serious charges, noting that the investigation was ongoing.

She said investigators were not aware if Inswasty had physical contact with either student.

Police executed a search war- rant on his Hancock Street home and seized a camera, a tripod, flash drives, an iPhone, an iPad and a computer.

“It’s really quite shocking, quite frankly, for an adult in that situation of trust to engage in this behavior and take advantage of these young women the way he did,” Hart said.

Hart urged anyone else who may have been targeted by Inswasty to come forward.

“I commend their bravery in this difficult situation that they’re facing,” she said.

“We are cognizant of the sensitivity of this, and we’ll do everything we can to ensure that we treat this with the utmost respect.”

A message left at a phone number listed for Inswasty wasn’t returned.
