Socialism’s Comeback: A Sign of History Forgotten

THE ISSUE: The left’s embrace of Alexandria OcasioCort­ez, a self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist.

The problem with socialism is not only that “you eventually run out of other people’s money,” as the late British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher put it (“A Warning for the Socialist Left,” Editorial, June 28).

The defeat of 10-term Rep. Joe Crowley by a 28year-old upstart socialist candidate in what was viewed as a pretty safe seat for the incumbent has shocked Democratic leaders, as it should have.
