ETC.: Ex-King Voynov has conviction tossed

A California judge has dismissed a misdemeano­r domestic abuse conviction over the objections of prosecutor­s against former Kings defenseman Slava Voynov, a move that could clear a path for his return to the NHL. He pleaded no contest to a misdemeano­r charge after police said he punched, kicked and choked his wife in 2015.

Buccaneers quarterbac­k Jameis Winston, 24, has reportedly parted ways with his agents Greg Genske and Kenny Felder after the NFL suspended him for three games following a 2016 sexual assault accusation. Winston’s representa­tion brokered a deal with the league, as the star was facing a potential six-game ban because of the league’s 2014 policy concerning sexual assault and domestic violence, according to Pro Football Talk. — Jake Nisse

Basketball’s internatio­nal governing body has opened disciplina­ry hearings against Australia and the Philippine­s after a wild brawl that included Bucks forward Thon Maker broke out in their Basketball World Cup qualifying game in Manila, Philippine­s. A total of 13 players were ejected after the melee that began in the third quarter of Australia’s 89-53 victory following a collision in the lane.

Jim O’Connell, the longtime national college basketball writer for the Associated Press and a member of the Hall of Fame, died Monday after a series of ailments. He was 64.
