Ant-Man short on information

- Cindy Adams

I’M not big on ants. I missed the original AntMan thing. Now out is “Ant-Man and the Wasp.” What I don’t want to miss again is seeing its Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas again. Paul, adorable, talented, is not superheavy with information — like: “I don’t exactly have a handle on how this CGI stuff works. The movie’s great. The team’s great. But I don’t even understand technologically how it’s done.

“My family finds it exciting. This was the first film my daughter has seen. Result is she has a newly defined relationship with ants. She looks toward them. She actually calls me to love ants. And my son’s shirt had ants on it. Not real ants. Designer ones.

“I didn’t even have to spend lots of extra time in the makeup chair for this film. And I don’t go from ant size to giant size. I’m staying 2 feet tall running around. My character’s under house arrest. But although I was involved in writing the script, I’m not supposed to reveal anything.” Yeah. Right. “I live upstate, but I’m traveling most of this summer promoting the movie in Europe and Asia. We were just in Taiwan, where I made dumplings. After this whirlwind, who knows? I don’t plan to disappear. Something will come up, but I don’t have anything to say yet.”

Itsy Ant-Man wore a nice grown-up suit. I figured he’d maybe at least tell me something about that like, maybe, where he got it. So he said: “I don’t even know whose it is.” He then showed me its label. J.Lindeberg. “Whoever that is.”

Like I said, adorable but no fund of information. His agent should book him with the CIA.

Douglas, who gets handsomer as he gets older, says: “Paul looks better than both of us.” He then noted a clutch of guys staring at him. “My college buddies. They all drank the Marvel Comics Kool-Aid, and they came to see this.

“My kids haven’t all seen this yet. My daughter

Carys is in a theater summer camp. Dylan, who graduated from high school, is backpacking in Europe. My son Cameron saw it. And in this I also get small. His comment was ‘ Wow!’

“Cameron’s made me a grandfather. The Brazilian girlfriend he’s dated two years gave birth to their daughter, and they live in California.

“Listen, all my life has been a lot to absorb. It’s been a conflicted time. Things are not always easy. There are parameters big and small. Indirectly, it’s wonderful to be able to be in and also to see a movie like this, which crosses politics, religion, family and puts us all together.

“I’m especially grateful for this right now.”
