Disney to build new HQ at 4 Hudson Sq.
“The View” will soon be airing from Hudson Square.
Disney has just signed a $650 million deal to build a new headquarters on Trinity Church land at 4 Hudson Sq.
Disney chief Bob Iger and Rev. Dr. William Lupfer, rector of Trinity Church jointly announced a 99-year lease for the high-tech, energy effi- cient project, which will consolidate production and studio spaces from the Upper West Side’s WABC-TV headquarters and its Disney Streaming Services, which are now in the Google-owned Chelsea Market.
“Good Morning America” will remain in Times Square, the company said.
Much of the current ABC headquarters complex on the UWS across from Lincoln Center is being sold to Silverstein Properties for $1 billion. Disney will retain the “Armory” housing ESPN offices, it said, and lease back the facilities from Silverstein for five years while its new headquarters is completed.
Back in April, The Post first reported Disney was on the hunt with the Trinity site in its crosshairs.
“In addition to being LEED-certified for environmental responsibility and efficiency, the new building will also incorporate the latest technology as well as the ability to adapt to the next generation of technological advances,” Iger said in a statement.
The new site is bounded by Hudson, Varick, Vandam and Spring streets and can hold more than 1.2 million square feet.
Eastdil Secured represented Disney, while Trinity was represented by CBRE.
