Conviction in Cuomo aide’s slay

- Emily Saul

A Brooklyn man on Thursday dodged a murder conviction but was found guilty of manslaughter for his role in the gang fight that killed a former aide to Gov. Cuomo.

Kenny Bazille, 34, was one of five men charged for the J’Ouvert festival crossfire in September 2015 that left Harvard-educated lawyer and Cuomo aide Carey Gabay (right) fatally shot in the head.

Gabay’s siblings and Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez were present in the gal- lery when the verdict was read. Gabay’s widow, Trenelle, was not present.

Gabay’s half-sister burst into tears as the panel acquitted Bazille on the murder charge. She declined to comment as she left the courtroom.

Jurors returned the conviction after nearly eight days of deliberations.

An admitted Folk Nation gang member, Bazille is the first of his codefendants to receive a verdict.

Unlike his co-defendants, Bazille argued that he’d fired his gun in self-selfdefense during the melee — notot as part of a larger gang war — and therefore had his own jury.

Another panel has been deliberaterating the fates of Micah Alleyne, Keith Luncheon and Stanley Eleanor since Tuesday.

Bazille faces five to 15 years behind hind bars when sentenced Sept. 12.

Defense attorney Sam Karliner liner said he would appeal the conviction. tion.
