TRAINING DAY

PRESSURE’S ON

Rookie LB Lorenzo Carter intrigues the Giants as a pass-rusher, and he showed his stuff on an inside rush that completely collapsed the pocket. Unable to step into his throw, Davis Webb fired an ugly wobbler intended for WR Russell

Shepard that was easily intercepted by CB Donte

Deayon. If Carter can generate pressure up the middle, watch out.

OUT OF THEIR DEPTH

This is always an eye-ofthe-beholder deal. The second-team offensive

tackles, Chad Wheeler and Nick Becton, had all sorts of trouble keeping Carter and Connor Barwin out of the backfield. Barwin in particular has his way with the backups. Depth at tackle has been an ongoing issue for this team.

CAUGHT MY EYE

Eli Manning looked left and tossed a screen pass to Saquon Barkley. What should have been an easy throw was low and wide, forcing Barkley to slow himself, dive and reach down to his ankles to make the catch for a gain that would have been greater if the pass had hit the rookie in stride. This is how a running back can make a quarterback look good.

MEDICAL REPORT

WR Sterling Shepard was attended to by trainers late in practice. Shepard took off his cleats and motioned that something was bothering him. After a few minutes Shepard put the shoes back on and was able to finish the practice, but he did not look fully comfortable.
