Add tax bill to Jumaane’s woe$

He not only defaulted on his home mortgage, but lieutenant-governor candidate Jumaane Williams is also struggling with a five-figure state tax bill for a restaurant he once owned, records show.

Earth Tonez Cafe, a vegetarian restaurant the councilman (pictured) coowned in 2007-08, has four outstanding tax warrants totaling more than $10,000, according to the state Tax Department.

The warrants, largely for unpaid sales taxes and business fees on the eatery, which closed a decade ago, were issued between 2010 and 2014.

“The open warrants’ balance is for $10,102.34. Earth Tonez Cafe LLC is responsible for that debt,” Tax Department spokes- man James Gazzale said.

“We try to find a mutually beneficial way to resolve the tax debt. Filing a warrant is typically a last resort for us. ”

The restaurant debt may be the least of Williams’ financial problems.

A Brooklyn judge last December issued a summary default judgment after Williams (D-Brooklyn) ducked payments for years on a two-story house in Canarsie. Court papers indicated he owed as much as $625,000 on the loan, including interest and penalties.

Williams insisted he still owns the rental property and doesn’t owe that much money. He declined to comment on his old restaurant’s tax arrears.

He is challenging Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul in the Sept. 13 Democratic primary.

Meanwhile, Williams’ went on for a January arrest for blocking an ambulance that ICE was using to transport an immigration-rights activist who just learned he was being deported.

Manhattan prosecutor ADA Ryan Hayward said Williams’ right to protest does not include endangering the “security of other New Yorkers.”
