Bloody Bronx street justice
Brutal vigilantes put down ‘mugger’
This alleged thief messed with the wrong block.
Jauan Blume, 21, got a taste of street justice this week when an angry Bronx mob beat the hell out of him moments after he and a pal robbed a man’s $500 necklace, police said Friday.
Dramatic video, obtained by The Post, captured the wild incident play out Tuesday at around 8:20 p.m. on Creston Avenue near East 182nd Street in Fordham Heights, according to cops.
Surveillance footage shows Blume, wearing a white shirt, and his pal, in red, walk up to the victim — a 32-yearold man the police did not identify — who can be seen leaning up against a parked car.
Moments later, a struggle ensues as the victim wraps his arms around Blume, dragging him behind the car as the suspect in the red shirt extends his arm, the video shows.
At some point, the victim was shot in the leg and grazed in the right eyebrow, but it was not immediately clear whether Blume or his pal fired the shots, cops said.
Blume’s pal bolts as Blume and the victim tussle on the ground.
Seconds later, another person jumps into the scrum — followed by nearly 10 more, who pound the alleged mugger, punching him in the face, kicking him and bashing his body.
Cellphone video taken from a nearby building window shows a man beating Blume with what appears to be a bat.
A third video — a graphic 9-second clip posted to Snapchat — shows a bloodied Blume lying on the ground with his eyes closed as someone stomps on his face. He is surrounded by several people shouting.
Police were called to the scene and Blume was arrested and hospitalized. Blume also was shot in the forearm during the incident, but police are unsure if he accidentally shot himself or if his accomplice shot him.
On Wednesday, Blume — who lawenforcement sources say is in a street gang — was hit with felony charges of robbery, assault and criminal possession of a weapon, authorities said. His accomplice remains at large.
Cops said they recovered the stolen necklace and that the mugging victim was cooperating. The victim, whose right eye was swollen and half-shut, would not discuss the incident Friday, telling reporters in Spanish, “My family doesn’t know I was assaulted.”
