HGTV is mystery ‘Brady’ home buyer

The secret corporate buyer that outbid Lance Bass for the “Brady Bunch” home is a mystery no longer.

David Zaslav, CEO of Discovery, HGTV’s parent company, announced Tuesday during a call with investors that the network had purchased the Studio City, Calif., house that stood in for the Brady family domicile on ABC from 1969 to 1974, Variety reported.

“I am excited to share that HGTV is the winning bidder and will restore the ‘Brady Bunch’ home to its 1970s glory as only HGTV can,” said Zaslav. “More details to come over the next few months, but we will bring all the resources to bear to tell safe, fun stories with this beloved piece of American TV history.”

On Sunday, former N*SYNC singer Bass griped that his dreams of owning the home had gone bye-bye-bye when a real-estate agent pulled the rug out from under him and canceled his winning bid of “way over the asking price” of $1.885 million.

“The same agent informed us that there’s another Corporate Buyer (Hollywood studio) who wants the house at any cost,” Bass, 39, wrote on Facebook. “We were prepared to go even higher but . . . they will outperform any bid with unlimited resources. How is this fair or legal??”

The three-bedroom, three-bathroom, 2,477square-foot residence was used for the exterior shots of the home where Carol (Florence Henderson) and Mike Brady (Robert Reed) raised their family of her three daughters and his three sons on the sitcom.
