Foles has minor shoulder strain
It looks like the Eagles may have dodged a bullet.
Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles has a minor shoulder strain, and an Eagles source told ESPN he might not miss any playing time and “should be fine.”
Foles suffered the injury during the Eagles’ 37-20 preseason loss to the Patriots on Thursday night when New England defensive end Adrian Clayborn beat offensive tackle Halapoulivaati Vaitai and hit Foles while he was stepping back to throw, knocking the ball loose.
Erstwhile Eagles starter Carson Wentz is on the verge of returning to 11-on-11 practice, but the team is not sure if he will be ready for the Sept. 6 opener against Atlanta. PATRIOTS: Rookie offensive lineman Isaiah Wynn, taken by the Patriots in the first round with the 23rd pick, suffered a torn Achilles tendon on Thursday against the Eagles, according to reports.
The 6-foot-2, 310-pound tackle was able to limp off the field after the first-half play but later was carted away from the sidelines.
BROWNS: Things keep getting worse for Josh Gor
don. The troubled wide receiver reportedly could face jail time over failure to pay child support, according to a report by TMZ.
The mother of Gordon’s 3year-old daughter recently won a court order forcing him to pay $6,765 per month in child support beginning Aug. 1. That deadline came and went, and the woman’s lawyer claims Gordon has not paid up.
49ERS: RB Jerick McKin- non will not play the remainder of the preseason, GM John Lynch said. McKinnon suffered a right calf strain in Sunday’s practice.
Bills 19, Browns 17
In Cleveland, AJ McCar
ron sustained a potentially serious shoulder injury, throwing the Bills’ QB situation into disarray. McCarron, who signed as a free agent, completed just 3 of 6 for 12 yards during four series.
He didn’t show any obvious signs of being hurt after a sack, and the Bills didn’t disclose his injury until the fourth quarter. McCarron is competing with Nathan
Peterman and rookie Josh Allen.
Panthers 27, Dolphins 20
In Charlotte, N.C., RB Christian McCaffrey had 120 yards from scrimmage in the first half, including a 71-yard TD to lead the Panthers
Chiefs 28, Falcons 14
In Atlanta, Matt Ryan guided the Falcons down the field for a touchdown on their first possession and led another impressive drive before calling it a night in the loss.
Cardinals 20, Saints 15
In New Orleans, freeagent acquisition Sam
Bradford and 10th overall draft choice Josh Rosen sparkled for Arizona. After Bradford completed all six of his passes for 61 yards, Rosen went 10 of 16 for 107 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown pass.
