HEISMAN FAVES

- Heisman odds

Bryce Love Stanford RB

Last year’s runner-up is one of the favorites, a game-breaking speed demon who racked up the second most rushing yards in the country (2,118) as a junior despite being limited by an ankle injury.

Jonathan Taylor Wisconsin RB

Nearly two decades after Ron Dayne ran to the sport’s premier honor, the 5-foot-11 Salem, N.J., native could follow suit after producing an NCAA freshman record of 1,977 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Will Grier West Virginia QB

A preseason AP All-American, Grier is coming off a 36-touchdown season in which he completed 64.4 percent of his passes.

Trace McSorley Penn State QB

He can’t hand off to Saquon Barkley, but the senior appears primed to lead Penn State. McSorley completed 66.5 percent of his passes and threw 28 touchdowns a year ago.

D’Andre Swift Georgia RB

A former track star, the sophomore will take center stage with Nick Chubb and Sony Michel in the NFL. As a freshman, he led the Bulldogs in rushing in the SEC title game.

McKenzie Milton Central Florida QB

One of three returning players who finished in the top 10 of the voting last year — Milton was eighth — the dual-threat star amassed 45 touchdowns and 4,650 yards from scrimmage.

Ed Oliver Houston DT

A defensive player has won the award just once, but the 6-foot-3, 292-pound Oliver, the potential No. 1 pick in next year’s draft, has a puncher’s chance after notching 38.5 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks the past two seasons.

Tua Tagovailoa Alabama QB

It was just over one half of action, but what a half it was from the freshman in the national championship game, leading Alabama back from a 13-point deficit. —ZachBraziller /
