HOT DIPPITY DOG
Paws that refreshed amid blistering heat
This pooch has a serious bone to pick with the weather.
While the dog days of summer may be coming to an end, the heat surely isn’t — as temperatures hovered in the mid- to upper 90s on Tuesday across the city.
“Oh, my God, today was really, really hot!” said Sandra Dolfino, owner of Prada, the golden retriever caught on camera cooling off at a dog park near East 62nd Street. “She doesn’t do so well in the heat.”
Expect another scorcher Wednesday, although maybe not quite as hot as Tuesday’s.
“The peak was basically [Tuesday],” said AccuWeather senior meteorologist Carl Erickson.
He told The Post that temps rose above the average high for the date but didn’t surpass the all-time record of 100 degrees — set in Central Park in 1948.
New Yorkers had gotten used to cool temps and wet weather over the last few weeks.
“All that rain and temperatures in the 70s and 80s, [the heat] may just be more noticeable,” Erickson said.
The overheated pooch Prada had to keep it cool in one of the city’s doggie-park pools.
“That was heaven,” Dolfino said. “Even just sitting [there]. The water was so nice and cool. It’s amazing that [the pools] are even there.”
The heat should wrap by Thursday evening — when a cold front is expected to roll through and possibly set off a strong, gusty thunderstorm.
It’s still going to be humid through Labor Day weekend, but temperatures are expected to trend back down into the 70s and low to mid-80s on Sunday and Monday.
