Manafort’s Misfortune: Getting Nabbed by Mueller
The Post warns President Trump and his attorneys against even a hint at pardoning former campaign chief Paul Manafort or others (“Kill the Pardon Talk,” Aug. 25).
There is no mention of special counsel Robert Mueller and staff acting as judge and jury, handing out immunity deals for any crimes that may have been committed by anyone ever associated with the president.
This is nothing but a desperate attempt to get someone to connect him to misdeeds.

I totally disagree with The Post. Trump must pardon everyone who is currently being rounded up into Mueller’s dragnet.
I think it’s time Mueller got the message that his convictions will prove to be an exercise in futility.
Attorney Alan Dershowitz is wrong because, in effect, he is telling Trump to cower in a corner and remain silent while his enemies continue to step all over him and stab him in the back. JJ Crovatto Ramsey, NJ
The Mueller investigation into Trump associates — in reality, into Trump himself — has all the elements of a witch hunt.
If Mueller was concerned with Russian interference, then why not investigate the phony Steele dossier, which used information from Russian sources?

Mueller chose to prosecute Manafort for bank and tax fraud, which occurred prior to Manafort’s involvement with Trump. Collusion was not mentioned in the case. After 15 months of investigating, Mueller has not found proof of collusion.
He chose Manafort for prosecution because he needed to show he was getting things done. Peter Provenzale Somerset, NJ
Trump advisers are warning the president not to pardon Manafort and other former aides under investigation.
Controversial pardons are usually saved as a final presidential act. Remember when President Bill Clinton pardoned tax cheat Marc Rich, whose wife was a donor and who owed the United States millions of dollars? Manny Martin Manhattan
