Bolts’ Bosa out Week 1

-

Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa has been ruled out for the opener against Kansas City after reinjuring his left foot.

Coach Anthony Lynn said Friday that Bosa’s first foot injury, which happened during training camp and caused him to miss the preseason, had healed, but that he suffered a new injury during Wednesday’s practice.

Bosa has not practiced the past two days, and has a walking boot on his left foot. This will be the first game the thirdyear player has missed because of injury.

Lynn said tight end Antonio Gates has looked good during practices this week and will be active for Sunday’s game.

FALCONS: Safety Keanu Neal will miss the remainder of the season after hurting his left knee in Thursday night’s 18-12 opening loss at Philadelphia.

The loss of Neal, a leader on the defense who was selected to his first Pro Bowl in 2017, is a major blow to the Atlanta defense. Damontae Kazee replaced Neal in the game.

BILLS: Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams and defensive end Trent Murphy are cleared to play in Buffalo’s season opener at Baltimore on Sunday after both missed extensive time with injuries.

BEARS: Nose tackle Eddie Goldman and Chicago have agreed to a four-year contract extension through the 2022 season. A secondround draft pick out of Florida State in 2015, Goldman has started 32 of the 36 games played and has 8 ¹/2 sacks and 15 quarterback hurries.

BROWNS: Undrafted rookie Desmond Harrison will start at left tackle in Sunday’s opener against Pittsburgh, filling the spot held for a decade by Joe Thomas.
