Snee: Coughlin won’t be torn in return to MetLife

-

He has not discussed this with Tom Coughlin, but knowing the coach and the man as he does, Chris Snee has a good idea how the emotions will be flowing Sunday at MetLIfe Stadium.

Coughlin returns for the first time as the Jaguars executive vice president of football operations to face the Giants, the team he guided for 12 years and the franchise that earned two shiny Lombardi Trophies during his time as head coach.

“I’m sure before the game, he’ll walk out on the field, and it will be hard not to reminisce a little bit,” Snee, a former Giants guard and Coughlin’s son-in-law, told The Post on Friday. “I do the same thing when I go back for appearances. Walk on the field, kind of look up and I see my name on the Ring of Honor, things like that. It’s all good times to look back and reflect on.”

Coughlin also is enshrined in the Giants Ring of Honor, but he will have beating the Giants on his mind this weekend.

In 2017, Coughlin returned to where he started, the expansion Jacksonville franchise for which he served as the first head coach. In his first year back, with Doug Marrone hired as the head coach, the Jaguars made it to the AFC Championship Game.

Snee, who lives in New Jersey and serves as an offensive-line scout for the Jaguars, said he spoke with Coughlin by phone the other day, when Coughlin called with birthday wishes for his grandchildren.

“I have zero contact with him. He’s in game-week mode,” Snee said. “I’m sure he’s excited and he’s eager to get back up here. I don’t want to speak for him, but he’s had so much success up here and is still loved by so many people. So many fans, it would be hard for me to imagine him not reminiscing a little when he walks into the building. Once kickoff happens, trust me, he’s gonna be up there in the box with his notes and his notepad. He’s gonna be in game mode in every way rooting for Jacksonville.” —
