Dialing Up the Theatrics: Dems’ Hearing Hostility

- Sen. Cory Booker

Sen. Cory Booker’s absurd fulminations during Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings are just the latest example of the Democrats embarrassing themselves (“Senate’s Bad Actors,” Jonah Goldberg, PostOpinion, Sept. 7).

His tirade about standing for principle and bravely falling on the sword of self-righteousness was pathetic.

Like most leftists today, he has no message. so he reverts to the left-wing default of screams, threats and accusations, with a large helping of hypocrisy thrown in.

Indeed, the Democrats have mastered the art of hypocrisy so well that they have unwittingly produced a new word that describes them perfectly: hypocrats. James McCaffrey Yonkers

How is the reaction to Kavanaugh any different than the farce the Republicans pulled with Merrick Garland?

Garland, as far as anyone could tell, was right down the middle of the road, which Kavanaugh says is the job description; yet Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blocked his appointment.

Now, because there is a Republican president, somehow it’s different? This is all about the Republicans jamming Kavanaugh down the country’s throat because he’s their boy. Mark Comerford Bradenton, Fla.

With the state of politics in New Jersey, Booker can probably represent the state as a senator as long as he likes.

But his performance at the Kavanaugh conformation hearings, where he presented himself as a martyr having his “Spartacus moment” was nothing but lies and did not go unnoticed by the rest of America. His presidential aspirations are finished. Janet Rose Arlington, NJ

Sen. Booker’s “I am Spartacus” moment was nothing but political grandstanding.

The e-mails he railed about were cleared for public release the night before and showed Judge Kavanaugh was against racial profiling immediately following 9/11.

The senator’s move was risk-free. The twothirds vote needed to remove him from the Senate was never going to happen.

Booker’s “act of disobedience” was an act of childishness. His 2020 presidential bid has cratered. Steve Ryan San Antonio, Texas

What an embarrassing couple of weeks for the “Resistance.” First, they disgraced themselves politicizing Sen. John McCain’s funeral. Next, we saw endless interruptions, shout-downs and temper tantrums, topped off with Booker’s “I’m Stooge-a-cus” histrionics during Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings.

Finally, an anonymous and catty op-ed with little substance except to concede our rising prosperity was published in The New York Times.

Trump’s opponents are classless, childish cowards, but he keeps delivering for the American people. Rich Codey Manhattan

Never in my life have I seen a bigger disgrace than this mockery of a confirmation hearing.

Sens. Booker and Kamala Harris used their 15 minutes of fame to create campaign ads for 2020, while denigrating Kavanaugh to such an extent his wife had to remove their children from the hearings, which should have been a proud moment for his family.

Even a Yale Law professor stated in a Times op-ed that Kavanaugh will make a superb justice.

Is this the Democrats’ idea of leadership? Do they think they are gaining votes with these antics? This may play well in New York and California, but not in the heartland. J Paino Manhattan

The leftist Democrats protested Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court by screaming and disrupting the hearing.

Empty barrels make the most noise. It’s apparent that the progressive left has the emotional control of a 2-yearold. John Habersberger New Paltz

Leftists are doing a great job of showing the country how disgusting they are.

There will be a red wave on Election Day. The Democrats are truly mental. Patrick Grant Rocky Point
