Mommy’s snitch
Tot, 3, shows cops pot in traffic stop
A 3-year-old girl got her mother and a pal in hot water during an upstate traffic stop — when she handed a state trooper drugs and paraphernalia, police said Monday.
The child was in the back seat of a 2000 Saturn when it was pulled over at a police “occupant safety’’ checkpoint in New Scot-otland, just south of Albany, last Thursday afternoon, State Police said.
The front-seat occupants — driver Scott Hill, 26, and the little girl’s mom, Megan Karl, 33 (below) — were observed making suspicious movements as cops approached them, police said.
When the pair put down their windows, cops said they could smell burning marijuana coming from the vehicle. As one trooper interviewed Hill, another checked on the child, authorities said. That’s when the girl — who was not properly secured in her car seat — reached under the front seat and pulled ou out “She a pouch. opened it and held it up so the trooper could see the contents,” authorities said in a statement. “The pouch con- tained a bag of marijuana and a metal grinding device and smoking pipe, both containing the drug.”
Hill and Karl, who are both from nearby Clarksville, were arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Hill was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, according to police.
The little girl was taken into the care of relatives, and Albany County Child Protective Services was notified, police said.
