No Kan. do, Rutgers routed by Jayhawks

Six takeaways, including two pick-sixes, and an explosive running game left the Scarlet Knights seeing red as they were blown out by Kansas, 55-14, in Lawrence, Kan., on Saturday.

Bryce Torneden and Mike Lee each returned intercepti­ons for touchdowns as the Scarlet Knights threw three picks and surrendere­d three fumbles.

“I didn’t see this coming against these guys because they are a very talent-rich football team and I’ve said so many times how good of a coach Chris Ash is,” Kansas coach David Beaty said, whose team earned back-to-back wins over FBS opponents for the first time since 2009.

Rutgers quarterbac­k Artur Sitkowski finished the game with just 47 yards and three intercepti­ons before being replaced by Gio Rescigno in the third quarter. Raheem Blackshear led the Scarlet Knights with 102 yards rushing.

Army 28, Hawaii 21

Kelvin Hopkins, a junior quarterbac­k, rushed for two first-half touchdowns and a career-high 110 yards as Army (2-1) knocked off unbeaten Hawaii (3-1) at West Point. Hopkins completed 6 of 10 passes for 162 yards, becoming the first Army quarterbac­k in 30 games to rush for 100 yards and pass for 100 yards.

UConn 56, Rhode Island 49

In East Hartford, Conn., David Pindell threw for 308 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 137 yards and two more as UConn (1-2) edged Rhode Island (2-1).

The teams combined for 1,123 yards of offense.

Stony Brook 28, Fordham 6

Jordan Gowins ran for 160 yards and a score, Donald Liotine ran 75 yards for a touchdown and Stony Brook (2-1) shut down Fordham’s (0-3) offense and capitalize­d on turnovers to win in The Bronx.

Montana St. 47, Wagner 24

In Bozeman, Mont., Denzel Knight provided Wagner (1-2) some early hope with a 98-yard kickoff return, but the Sea- hawks’ defense couldn’t contain freshman quarterbac­k Tucker Rovig, who threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns, to lead Montana State (2-1).

Monmouth 24, Lafayette 20

In Easton, Pa., Kenji Bahar threw for 334 yards and a touchdown, and Monmouth (2-1) shut out Lafayette (0-3) in the second half for the victory.

Columbia 41, CCSU 24

In New Britain, Conn., Josh Bean threw for 128 yards and a touchdown and Columbia trounced Central Connecticu­t.

Princeton 50, Butler 7

In Indianapol­is, John Lovett connected with Jesper Horsted for two touchdowns and ran for two more and Charlie Volker had two touchdown runs as Princeton opened its 150th season in style against Butler (2-1).

Holy Cross 31, Yale 28, OT

In Worcester, Mass., Derek Ng booted a 45yard field goal in overtime as Holy Cross (1-2) rallied for its first win of the season, a victory over Yale (0-1), the reigning Ivy League champions.
