Slays ex, shoots her beau and kills self

A love triangle turned fatal in Queens on Friday when a jealous man barged into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and opened fire when he saw her in bed with her new boyfriend.

When the gun smoke cleared inside the woman’s second-floor East Elmhurst home, only the boyfriend — Hewitt DePass, 43, an off-duty Yonkers cop — was alive and able to limp bleeding and naked from the apartment.

The woman, Regan Smith, 31, was dead of at least one gunshot wound to the head, police said.

And the jealous ex, Nelson Gyron, 47, ended both the bloodbath and his own life by blasting himself in the head.

“The ex-boyfriend [Gyron] shot everybody,” one law-enforcement source told The Post.

Gyron for the past week had been in a rage over his ex-girlfriend’s new lover, police sources said.d.

Cops hadd been called af-after Gyron “keyed”keyed” the Yon-Yonkers cop’s car outside the woman’s apartment on 77th Street near 19th Road.

Another time, he harassed the new couple by ringing her doorbell incessantly.

Then, just before 7 on Friday morning, Gyron used his old key to open his ex’s door and saw the new couple asleep in bed together, a source said.

Seeing the cop’s gun, Gyron grabbed it. The two rivals struggled over the weapon, but Gyron

got hold of it and opened “I’ve been shot by my boyfriend!” the doomed Smith told a dispatcher in a 911 call. “Send the police!” Police werewer already on their way, summoned by neighbors’ reports of gunfire. Cops heard up to 10 gunshots inside as they set up a perimeter, and Emergency Service Unit officers then burst through the locked door.

Inside, Gyron and Smith were dead, said NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea.

“It is believed that she has at least one gunshot wound to the head,” he said.

Also inside was the Yonkers cop, who is expected to survive. As first responders led him from the apartment, the bleeding man wore only a pair of blood-spattered boots, witnesses said.

Cops held a sheet to his groin for privacy, according to a neighbor, Rachid Couchi, 40.
