Divorce case gets heavy

-

A PRICEY art-world divorce is set to take another sensational twist on Friday, when Libbie Mugrabi — the estranged wife of mega art collector David Mugrabi — is expected to haul a heavy Keith Haring piece into a Manhattan courtroom. There is buzz that “Libbie will be bringing in a 25-pound, 3-foot Keith Haring sculpture” when she appears, a pal said. “She will be wheeling it in on one of her children’s toy wagons.” The hearing, we hear, is over an order of protection that she filed after an alleged dispute involving the Haring artwork. Page Six previously reported that a source said of the dispute between the squabbling spouses: “David came home to find Libbie holding the statue,” and that during an altercation, “she fell back so that the heavy artwork fell [and] hit her.” The piece features three of the artist’s famous colorful dancing figures. Mugrabi’s family are the foremost collectors of works by Andy Warhol, with a collection estimated to be worth $5 billion. The couple are also fighting over cash: Libbie was granted temporary spousal support of more than $25,000 a month, but we hear that Libbie’s lawyers have claimed David needs to foot a recent $40,000 bill from the Loews Regency Hotel, where Libbie was staying with their kids. A source said, “She’s had to move in with friends!” David’s lawyer, Lois Liberman, did not comment. She’s previously said of their financial arrangements, “Mr. Mugrabi has every intention of providing funding to ensure the parties’ children have two new homes to live in with their parents.” Libbie’s lawyer, Kevin McDonough, did not get back to us. The pair reportedly have no prenup.
