QB sets record as Miss. St. stuns Auburn

Nick Fitzgerald ran for 195 yards and two touchdowns, passing former Florida star Tim Tebow as the SEC’s career leader for rushing yards by a quarterbac­k and Mississipp­i State beat No. 8 Auburn 23-9 on Saturday night in Starkville, Miss.

The Bulldogs (4-2, 1-2) came into the game among the nation’s top 10 in scoring defense, and were brilliant on that side of the ball. The Tigers (4-2, 1-2) hit on a couple of big plays, but once they neared the end zone Mississipp­i State clamped down.

Alabama 65, Arkansas 31

In Fayettevil­le, Ark., Tua Tagovailoa passed for 334 yards and four touchdowns as No. 1 Alabama (6-0, 3-0 SEC) ran its winning streak against Arkansas (1-5, 0-3) to 12 straight.

Georgia 41, Vanderbilt 13

In Athens, Ga., Jake Fromm threw three touchdown passes, including a 75-yarder to Terry Godwin, and No. 2 Georgia (6-0, 4-0 SEC) beat Vanderbilt (3-3, 0-2) after trailing for the first time this season following an early Commodores field goal.

Ohio St. 49, Indiana 26

In Columbus, Ohio, Dwayne Haskins Jr. passed for a career-best 455 yards and six touchdowns and No. 3 Ohio State (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten) pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Indiana (4-2, 1-2).

Clemson 62, Wake Forest 3

In Winston-Salem, N.C., Travis Etienne rushed for 167 yards and three touchdowns, and No. 4 Clemson (6-0, 3-0 ACC) ran for 471 yards — its most productive run game since 1981 — in a rout of Wake Forest (3-3, 0-2).

Notre Dame 45, Va. Tech 23

In Blacksburg, Va., Dexter Williams ran for three touchdowns, in- cluding a 97-yarder, Ian Book won his third straight start at quarterbac­k and No. 6 Notre Dame (6-0) beat No. 24 Virginia Tech (3-2).

West Va. 38, Kansas 22

In Morgantown, W.Va., Will Grier threw four touchdown passes, but also committed four turnovers, and No. 9 West Virginia (5-0, 3-0 Big 12) defeated Kansas (2-4, 0-3).

Central Florida 48, SMU 20

In Orlando, Fla., McKenzie Milton threw for 278 yards and two touchdowns to help No. 12 Central Florida (5-0, 2-0 AAC) beat SMU (2-4, 1-1) to extend the nation’s longest winning streak to 18 games.

Texas A&M 20, Kentucky 14, OT

In College Station, Texas, Trayveon Williams flipped into the end zone on a 10-yard run in overtime to give Texas A&M (4-2, 2-1 SEC) the win over No. 13 Kentucky (5-1, 3-1), which was looking to improve to 6-0 for the first time since 1950.

Miami 28, Florida St. 27

In Miami Gardens, Fla., N’Kosi Perry threw four touchdown passes and 17th-ranked Miami (5-1, 2-0 ACC) pulled off its biggest comeback ever against Florida State by rallying from a 27-7 second-half deficit to edge the Seminoles (3-3, 1-3).

N.C. St. 28, Boston College 23

In Raleigh, N.C., Reggie Gallaspy ran for a career-best 104 yards and two touchdowns while No. 23 North Carolina State (5-0, 2-0 ACC) held on after squanderin­g most of a big second-half lead to beat Boston College (4-2, 1-1).

Utah 40, Stanford 21

In Stanford, Calif., Jaylon Johnson returned an intercepti­on 100 yards for a touchdown and Zack Moss ran for two scores to lead Utah to a victory over No. 14 Stanford.
