Cuomo’s Most Telling Critic

-

Stephanie Miner’s independent run for governor may not have much chance, but at least the former Syracuse mayor is showing that not all Democrats are in denial over Gov. Cuomo’s misrule.

Miner this week went to Buffalo to slam Cuomo’s signature “economic development” scheme. Standing in front of the sprawling (but nearly empty) Tesla solar-panel plant, she railed against “the worst kind of investment of public resources” — a project “born in corruption, mired in costs and an inefficient way to spend $750 million.”

The failure to deliver promised jobs isn’t unique to the gov’s Buffalo Billion boondoggles, of course. The Post’s Andy Land series detailed how Cuomo’s $10 billion in eco- nomic development outlays has produced empty buildings all across the state.

Miner’s criticism carries added weight, since Cuomo once thought enough of her to tap her to co-chair the state Democratic Party. But that was years ago, when he seemed bent on turning New York around, rather than taking the insider games to new levels.

The guy who took office pledging to clean up Albany instead shut down his own anticorruption Moreland Commission. And then saw two lifelong friends, top aide Joe Percoco and lobbyist Todd Howe, convicted in a Buffalo Billion pay-to-play scheme.

Clearly, the gov stuck with the wrong crowd. If he still deserved Stephanie Miner’s approval, New York would be in far better shape.
